John is married to Margaret Reidy, a native of Lincoln, NM, and they have two children. John served on the board of directors of the New Mexico Trial Lawyers Association for many years and was an officer of the association. He was also an editor of the Journal of the NMTLA for several years, and writes for that Journal, which is widely read by lawyers throughout the state.

John gives seminar presentations to lawyers in continuing education programs and is one of the authors of a litigation manual used by lawyers throughout New Mexico. He also is a court-appointed mediator for the District Court’s Settlement Week program.

John has been very active in community non-profit organizations throughout his career. During the last fifteen years he has served as President, Vice-President, and as a board member of the New Mexico Brain Injury Alliance and has served on the board of the Southwest Neurorehabilitation Institute.
